I have just watched Lance Armstrong win the 2003 Centenary Tour de France. He finished 3rd in the Individual Time Trial behind David Millar and Tyler Hamilton, and ahead of Jan Ullrich.
Unfortunately Ullrich fell at about 15 kms to go, but he got back up and finished 11" behind Armstrong, leaving Lance with a 1' 16" lead in the general classification.
Lance joins Miguel Indurain as the only other person to win 5 successive Tours, and enters the group of Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault and Eddy Merckx as five tour winners.
Congratulations Lance and US Postal Team.
Ok, so I know the final day of the tour is tomorrow, but according to the unwritten rules of the tour, no one should attack Lance tomorrow. If you can't beat the leader over 3 weeks, he deserves the win!
